Bio

Mickey Dee was born Michael Barr in June of 1990. By age 13, he was strumming power chords, and writing and singing original songs inspired by pop punk and hip hop, with his Portland band, The House Wives. But a falling out with his band mates led him to a rediscovery of rap music. Since then, he has completed several more underground albums, and has mastered the arts of mixing, producing, writing, composing and recording. When his friends and family heard a rough version of what is now known as "The BarrCode", they immediately encouraged him to have the album professionally replicated for widespread distribution. Within two years of having carefully studied melodies, and intricate double rhyme schemes, Mickey finally did it. The finished product reveals the edginess and grittiness of this skinny white kid writing to survive his urban high school experience-- in a lyrical oddessy bounced through bumping beats and tunes you can’t get out of your mind. It all proves that this self-proclaimed skinny white kid can rap. After the success of the underground classic, "Like Thugs", which featured fellow emcees T-Roi (now Young Roi) and Karess, Mickey decided to start his own hip hop group, comprised of the only the best Portland lyricists. Portland emcees Mickey Dee, Young Roi, Karess, YUNG B!RD, Alex Sosa, and The Plot joined forces with New York rapper Million to form one of the greatest hip hop groups to date, The Verbal Felonz. Their first album is due this May, entitled WordPlay. Mickey has many plans for the future, which include his next solo album, Barrmageddon, due next September, another Verbal Felonz project, and an R&B/Comedy album with fellow emcee Karess, starring as the duo Vanilla & Caramel in their album Silk Sheets and Baby Bottoms. Until then, sit tight Portland, and be prepared for amazing things from the one and only Mickey Dee!

Interests

I am interested in many different things, including the many aspects of film, such as directing, acting, and editing. I'm also, of course, interested in producing, recording, mixing, writing, and performing music. I am also an artist of sorts and tend to do all my own cover art, and draw various things from comics to DVD covers.
